To tan with UV rays the ultra violet radiation actually penetrates through the layers of the skin & causes inflammation to the dermis (also attacking the collagen fibers and protein in the skin). The defense mechanism to this invasion is the release of melanin to the epidermis resulting in beautifully bronzed skin.
A spray tan is primarily made of DHA - a colorless sugar derived from plants such as sugar beets. It has been used to treat medical problems such as skin-pigmentation disorders for more than 50 years. It's also been approved by the U.S. FDA for cosmetic use for decades.
DHA has an enzymatic reaction with the amino acids in the outer layer, or epidermis, of the skin, causing the dead skin cells to turn temporarily dark. Same beautifully bronzed skin but in contrast, the sun's rays and the UV lights used in tanning beds penetrate into the deepest layers of skin which is why lasting damage is caused.

Unless you are getting your pedi done at Vanity Hair Co. (because they carry our spray tan friendly retail line), we highly recommend getting you pedi done 2 days bf your spray tan & using our spray tan friendly body wash after your pedi in the last shower bf your spray tan. Mani's are fine as long as you are not booking them right after your spray tan & washing your hands (or getting alcohol sprayed on them for acrylics) bf the 12 hour mark after your tanning appointment.
With proper aftercare & product, most clients keep their tans for 10-14 days! There are alots of factors that can make these results individualized & our techs will go over any questions as they arise.
I try to find regular products on the market that are spray tan friendly but it has been a trial and error process that I have found to be mainly error which is why I now say: it's best to only use products made for spray tanning which I have available.

If this is your first spray tan with us we recommend a trail spray ta least 2 weeks before your big day! Several factors go come into play here..
# 1 Getting a spray tan is not like getting your hair colored- we cant see the result before you leave & tweak it. Getting one before your event allows us to understand your skin better and make any needed adjustments the next time you get sprayed.
#2 There is alot of prep & aftercare that goes into getting a flawless spray tan. We find it best our clients are fully aware of how the process works before spraying for a high pressure event/day as it helps ease the stress & possibility of messing up the tan before the event.
That is completely customizable to your comfort level. Some wear bra & panty or an old swim suit- Most just wear a panty or thong.
We have lots of pregnant clients! However, we always recommend you check with your doctor before scheduling if you are pregnant, nursing or have any medical conditions.
